How would my Journey in HNG Internship End?
I invite you to be my accountability partner
I am a Developer from a state not so technologically inclined in Nigeria.
Here is a little story about me.
In everything that I do, I usually look at the worst-case scenario. This has made people call me a pessimist but, what some have not been able to understand is the fact that I am super optimistic about technology and an ardent believer in the opportunities that technology will present to us in the future.
This optimism and passion have been the fuel that drives and pushes me to be better in Backend web development. Initially, when I conceived the idea to venture into Software development I had thought it wasn't feasible in the city where I find myself but, with resilience and doggedness I scaled through.
Here is the gist, I registered for one of the biggest internships in Nigeria, and to be sincere I have really heard a lot about this internship beforehand. One of the things that makes it really interesting is the fact that it is fast-paced and not for beginners. Though not for beginners, beginners are welcome to give it a try. I know you probably have your interest glued so you will discover this internship that I am talking about.

Ok, no suspense anymore…
HNG internship is the biggest fully remote internship hosted annually in Nigeria by the CEO of hotels.ng Mark Essien, HNG internship is divided into 10 stages that span over 2-3 months. Though it is an internship hosted by a Nigerian company, it is also open to people from all over the world with the wit and strength to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the internship.
HNG internship features different tracks that cut across Front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REACT), Backend development (Go, Nodejs, PHP, Python), Mobile development (Dart/Flutter), DevOps, UI/UX (Figma) & Digital marketing.
If you have read some of my previous articles you might have come to understand that I primarily write PHP/Laravel at least for now.
In the future, you might want to register for HNG internship and you come across this article, I will reiterate my initial statement but this time authoritatively. HNG internship is not for beginners but as a beginner, you are welcome to try. I decided to curate a list of resources that would give you an edge over other beginners in the internship
If you prefer text-based tutorials here you go
If your preference is on visual-based learning, you are not left out either. Here you go
Now welcome to the main purpose of this article, I am writing this article to publicly tell you about my goal for this internship and make you my accountability partner.
The goal is simple…
To get to the final stage (stage 10) of the internship and win a branded HNG internship T-shirt.
Wow! Just a T-shirt you may say, but trust me that T-shirt is evidence of the fire and the process you have gone through to become a better developer/designer/marketer. For most companies in Nigeria and Abroad who know about HNG internship, they would not hesitate to give you a chance in their company to work as a developer, a designer, or even a Digital marketer.
Here is how you can be my accountability partner, tweet me or send me a DM on Twitter Daniel Okoronkwo and ask me about my experience after 8 weeks, I would gladly reply no matter what the outcome turns out to be. You can also leave a comment on this article asking about my experience or maybe something you want to know about HNG internship I will make sure to give you a detailed reply.
You can get a list of all the articles that I have written on my hashnode blog https://danielokoronkwo.hashnode.dev
